Exhaust question - Casey835 - 02-26-2013

OK so I need to order my parts for my Exhaust system that Im going to build meself. What size pipe do i need to get-2"-2.25"-2.5"? I have a basically stock 302 with the Duffs long tube headers. Im going with the flowmaster 40series. Thats what I had before with 2" pipe. Just wanted to get some opinions before I order.

Exhaust question - blazinchuck - 02-26-2013

i've been building exhaust systems on eb's with 2.5" and its been working great. just finished a long tube header w/ BC exhaust, mine is all 2.5 tru dual w/cross over and 40 flows...dumps over 9". i just bought a nice mandrel bent DIY kit from speedway motors...4 90*,4 U's,4 45*,4 straight 5' sections...all for $139 plus shipping. hard to beat that. i'll be using this to build a BC style on tommys rig and maybe a BC style on mine.

of coarse with that being said...2" mandrel is probably just as good and a lot easier to fit in tight places...makes running tail pipes easier too. if you not using a modified motor...just go 2 and save some money

This is why I asked here. I knew you had experience with this and wanted your and anyone elses advice. Takin into consideration I do want to upgrade my engine at some point maybe sooner than later, would you go ahead with 2.5" Yes that is a good deal. I believe thats better than the summit price. I do have that 4-link to contend with, which does drive nicely on the road i might like to add!

Exhaust question - blazinchuck - 02-26-2013

glad to hear you're liking the 4 link. i highly recommend the skyjacker M95 they made a big difference on chuzies rig. if you plan to build the motor, sure go bigger...keep in mind there are not many options when building an exhaust and using a duff 4 link...especially with long tubes. the tubes drop almost right in front of 4 link mounts at the frame. is money is not tight...id consider shorties 1st and then work your exhaust from there.. check chuzies build and look at his exhaust pics...it was very tight...and not many options for placing 40 flows...

Exhaust question - Casey835 - 02-26-2013

If I did the shorties, I could do the 2 into 1, right? You cant do the 2 into 1 with longtubes, right? Or I guess you can but horsepower suffers.

Exhaust question - blazinchuck - 02-26-2013

not true...you can do 2into 1 with shorties or longs....shorties do make it easier tho.

as for horse power...your not gonna feel the difference between the systems. ive had both on this rig and cant tell any except this dual system now is too loud

Exhaust question - Casey835 - 02-26-2013

OK Thanks Chuck I think im going to see what I can do with the long tubes since ive already spent the money. If I dont like it, Ill change it. Like thats a new idea.

Exhaust question - blazinchuck - 02-26-2013

Chuzie wanted duals...but I think a 2into1 might be user friendly. Keep us posted on your progress

Exhaust question - chuzie - 02-26-2013

What Chuck meant to say is I am a pain in the ass and make every project overly difficult.

Go big or go home! There is no room for pu**y bit**es in Broncos! Wink
