Vin help - wepuckett - 07-20-2014 I posted this on Classic so you will see it there too but you all sometimes are a lot faster posting here. Ok here is the situation I bought a project someone accumulated a bunch of parts and had 2 tubs 2 frames a mess of other stuff but 1 title. yes I have looked the the faq section on vin decoding but can't seem to make theese out completely. The vin on the title is U15GLM68999917 it looks a little long to me but that is just the begining The vin on the glove box is U157LM68917 yes it is a 7 after the 5 I checked like a dozen times The vin on the frame is U15 GLJ 10939 The title says 72 that seems to match up other then the length of the vin If anyone can help decode this mystery why they are all different is beyond me. Thanks William Vin help - chuzie - 07-20-2014 Vin on door jamb? Really the frame is the only reliable identifier as the glovebox and door jamb can be replicated. Can you post a close up pic of the frame vin? U suspect the title issue was due to inflexible formatting at the dmv somewhere along the line. Vin help - broncosbybart - 07-20-2014 I am sure the title vin was as typo at some point. The frame came off of a different Bronco. If you don't have a title for that things might be interesting trying to register it in NC if purchased out of state. They will require a vin/theft inspection by the DOT on antique vehicles. Do you know the procedure on that and can I get it started before the build so i don't have to worry about a title once I am building it. As for a pic of it I will get it posted in my pics area soon. Vin help - chuzie - 07-20-2014 What state is the title from? Vin help - wepuckett - 07-20-2014 The title I have is from VA but the frame is from who knows where, I bought it all in TN Vin help - chuzie - 07-20-2014 Welcome to Fawksville, population - YOU! Bart is right, I really see no way around an investigation. This page will get you started in the right direction for the investigation. http://www.ncdot.gov/dmv/licensetheft/ Vin help - wepuckett - 07-20-2014 I didn't think he was wrong just didn't know how to go about it. Thanks and under my albums I have a pic posted of the frame vin, as close as I could get without it getting blurry. Vin help - Crawdad - 07-20-2014 Contact PO and see if he has a frame that matches the title. NC is a lil more flexible than SC. But the fact that it's a VA title may be a lil more of a headache. If not do whatcha gotta do! I wouldn't do anymore work on that frame till you get this resolved. Vin help - wepuckett - 07-20-2014 He doesn't I got everything he has bronco all the way down to the nuts and bolts he had in boxes for it. I do have to head up to pick up the back seat and some other things he has found since my last trip so I will ask to make sure he doesn't have another title somewhere. How hard is the investigation for this, is it a lot of paperwork or a lot of fees or both? |
