Can't say on that. Was the cover loose? I'm sure I removed it but I couldn't tell you why at this point...

Continued working on my hydraulic cylinder install. Ended up fabricating taller brackets to mount to the tie rod in a effort to achieve parallel between the tie rod and the cylinder. Everything is pretty close tolerance but will work just fine. I clocked the tie rod ends to reduce tie rod roll and will tack the jam nuts once I confirm my alignment is within spec.

I need to have some longer hoses made tomorrow and find some UHMW rod or tube to install internally to limit ram travel to 6.25" as I do not have the typical 8" throw most folks have.

Oh, also emptied a huge spray bottle of mold and mildew killer into my Escort. It got flooded the other week and the mildew is starting to take over. Yuck!

The transmission on the Escprt is going south. May have taken water. Sucks!

Had a spacer made at the machine shop to reduce the stroke on my steering ram and installed it in the cylinder. Headed out on a mission tomorrow so I will be installing and testing the new cylinder setup when I get back.

Where did you put the spacer?

Inside the cylinder on the shaft between the rear and front seals.

Correct me if I'm wrong but won't that just limit the travel in one direction? I do something similar at work but it only limits the travel in one direct.

Correct, but the overall stroke would be reduced by the same amount. He can split the difference as the cylinder doesn't have a true center like a steering box does.

Chuck had the same question yesterday. Had I done the spacer with tabs already installed for an 8" stroke, i would have an issue but this was a relocation so fresh tabs installed as if it was a 6.25" stoke ram.

Picked up a junk yard Aluminum air filter housing off of a 90 something ford and cleaned it up and put a new air filter in it and installed. Put some panty hose over the snorkel on it to limit larger particles from clogging the filter.
