what have you wrenched on your bronco(s) today? - chuzie - 01-28-2016 Look at that arm. How much flex do you really think we get out of that joint? Clay, mr engineer, tell me what that joint is doing please. So you want us to fund your project eh? I have a better idea, how about we fund your stay at a drug rehab facility instead seeing as you are clearly smoking crack!!! what have you wrenched on your bronco(s) today? - Bronco Biff - 01-28-2016 One day, long arms and less than rock hard springs for the '73.....but tonight!!!! Gapping up some fresh plugs to go along with the HEI and fresh wires I put in last night!! opened up another can of worms removing all of the ignition and gauge wiring out to the engine bay. what have you wrenched on your bronco(s) today? - Broncitis - 01-28-2016 Bart I just left a wad up there with you a day or 2 ago. Didn't go far did it. LOL I have your address so we can always go find you. LOL what have you wrenched on your bronco(s) today? - Broncitis - 01-28-2016 I hooked the manual choke up on Ol Blue. Hope that will make the cold weather starts out some. what have you wrenched on your bronco(s) today? - snipes243 - 01-29-2016 broncosbybart Wrote:Nice offer William. They are bushings that go with the duffs radius arms. They need to be soft to allow for some movement, so something hard like a plastic or metal wouldn't work correctly. I guess I missed the bottle opener thread, now you got me thinking I bet I could fit a ton on a 4x8 sheet. I wish I had my own laser cutter. You should totally do a go-fund-me page, that was a hilarious thread, talk about people being butt hurt. what have you wrenched on your bronco(s) today? - snipes243 - 01-29-2016 Broncitis Wrote:I traveled to BartsBroncoemporium this evening and picked up a nice 5.0 to put in the 74 this spring. Block casting numbers are E7TE which translates to a 87 truck engine. That ceing said I think it'll require a 50 flywheel for balance. Also from the little research I have done in the last few minutes it should be roller tappet. The heads on it have the GT along with the 3 hash marks on the front in the proper places to make them GT 40 heads. At my second stop I trashed 400$ on a 435 transmission which it looks like I will be able to stumble over for quite some time to remind me to research and ask more questions in the future before handing over my cash. If any one ever needs a 435 to use with a 205 transfer case I will give you a great deal on one. Isnt there a conversion shaft from Advanced adapters to fix your issue? what have you wrenched on your bronco(s) today? - snipes243 - 01-29-2016 chuzie Wrote:Look at that arm. Nah I think it would be cheaper to just replace them once a year. As for the flex im positive the bushings help, mainly by keep the arm itself from binding. The c-wedge does seem to limit movement, hence why you see a lot of wrist-ed arms. I think the bushings are being wore from axle wrap. There is only like 6" separation between the joints vertically. Take for instance the new super duties they the same basic radius arm set up but with greater separation between the bushings. Thats kinda of my thoughts on them, I am curious to see how my new poly bushing compare to the older rubber ones. what have you wrenched on your bronco(s) today? - dixieboyz13 - 01-30-2016 Finally got around to pulling the steering box out and getting it shipped off for rebuild on Thursday. On the second half of a 48 hour shift right now, but managed to put a new track bar on the F-250 as I have the bastard early 99 and nobody makes just replacement bushings. I think I have a needle valve in the holley that is stuck open and dumping fuel into the carb on the 74. Gonna try and work on that if they ever let me go home from this fire station. what have you wrenched on your bronco(s) today? - broncosbybart - 01-30-2016 For future FYI- there are replacement bushings available for that track bar. Did one recently. Prothane 6-1217. what have you wrenched on your bronco(s) today? - dixieboyz13 - 01-30-2016 I appreciate that, and will write that down in my book. I couldn't find any info on which ones were correct anywhere. I did manage to get a moog track bar shipped to the house for $75. I think the bushings (the wrong ones that I took back) were $20. It was almost worth the price to buy the whole thing and not have to fight them. Had the old one out and new one in in under 30 minutes while at work. |
