cash for clunkers=the end - Timstrk - 07-28-2009 And it doesn't work for used cars. No matter the mileage they get. Tim cash for clunkers=the end - cuz1 - 07-28-2009 Another Obamanation!!! cash for clunkers=the end - bigjake6 - 07-28-2009 so basically those who happen to drive an "old clunker" because that's what they can afford are now being encouraged to trade the clunker for a new, expensive vehicle that they otherwise would not consider if it were not for a govt subsidy??? wait a minute, i thought we already played this game???? cash for clunkers=the end - bucketobolts - 07-28-2009 Looks like this is aimed toward trucks and SUV's. Like the article linked by bound4dixie listed, the fuel mileage and age requirements of the turn in vehicles will not apply to most import or small cars. What modern vehicles get <18mpg? cash for clunkers=the end - bone collector - 07-28-2009 aahhhhhhhhh!!!!! I cant belive people voted for this guy cash for clunkers=the end - bound4dixie - 07-29-2009 bone collector Wrote:aahhhhhhhhh!!!!! I cant belive people voted for this guy:cut: ....exactly...well if he'd listed all the things he said he was going to do when he ran for office...cough...$1.8 trillion deficit in a year....cough..., I would hope some would have thought twice, but I'm way too optimistic at times...and thats a whole other thread... Naw I agree with bucketobolts, it is definitely aimed squarely at trucks and suvs...thats the only think I've heard traded in when I talked with folks that took advantage of the program. I guess the gov't thinks you don't need something big as that... Either way it is just a big waste of tax dollars that will add another billion to the debt total. Besides, if we move the average joe from 8mpg to 35mpg, he won't notice that $5 a gallon gas when it still only takes 50 bucks to fill up the tank :twak: cash for clunkers=the end - bucketobolts - 07-29-2009 On the bright side, I read that there is a bill in the NC House to repeal all vehicle safety inspections. The emission inspections will still happen. The bill states that there is no evidence that a mandatory safety inspection improves safety. About time NC woke up, I believe SC dropped their safety inspections several years back. cash for clunkers=the end - bound4dixie - 07-29-2009 That will be pretty sweet! 95 or older would be treated like 35years or older currently in NC? I guess those clunkers that don't make it to the scrapper might still have one advantage.upergrin: cash for clunkers=the end - bone collector - 07-29-2009 hell just lower the gas prices ill be happy with that put our tax money to good use and help out the people who cant afford a car payment. Ohhh I forgot that actually makes sense cash for clunkers=the end - broncomatt - 07-29-2009 I talked more with my boss, he was obvously wrong on what you get for cash. But we have ordered some kind of acid to pour into the engine. Then were supposed to run the engine untill it seizes. We get paid to do this, not sure what the labor time will be yet. This is all being handled by the sales dept. They got excided that they may be able to part some of the stuff off these cars. For right now were not doing anything but sit on these rigs untill we know who's paying us for what. Bottom line, we wont be getting any parts for free. Some of the stuff that has already been traded in for this are, early 90's land rover, late 90's explorer, late 90's lincoln. To me its a waste, some of the parts on these cars could be used to keep other cars running properly. Is it better to crush these things than to fix other older cars that are running right and poluting. |
