Do you plan on replacing all of the wiring in the column - that is a major PITA in my opinion. Even the Centech harness just connects to the bottom of that harness and it does not include wiring up through the column. There are a lot of little wires in a very limited space, but nothing that a little time and patience won't take care of.

So I got a new switch that goes on the brake pedal and install it tonight, then I pull the steering wheel off and the found my problem. There is fire getting to the green wire but none to the orange-black wire. I jumper a wire between them and push in the brake and I have Brake lights. So that tells me a new wire harness for the switch will be on order come Monday.
So is it the bad to change out? Looks to me if you tape the bottom and take your time by pulling it in the steering colum it should not be that bad. Then do you take and cut the old wires out of the plastic harness and then push your new one in the old harness? That seems not to hard. Post up and let me know what you have done. Any Tips will help...

Hey George,
I've done a couple of them and it's not too bad if you have a special tool to get
the pins out of the connector. You have to take the lower connector off then
snake the wires through the collum and re-attach the connector.

I have the tool. Let me know when you are going to do it and I'll lend it to you.

Bill

Bill-Question? Can you take and cut the old off and push the old pin out and then push the new ones in the plastic harness? Or do I need that tool to make it work?

You are putting in a new turn signal switch right?
The new switch has the switch, wires and connector?

This tool helps get the pins out of the connector plug without destroying anything.
Your new turn signal switch should have the switch, wires and a connector plug.
1. You remove the new connector plug using the pin removal tool.
2. Snake the wires from the top of the collum down.
3. Re-connect all the pins to the connector plug. (in the right spots!)
4. Plug it in to the main harness and your ready to put everything back together.

Give me a call.
Just got back from camping this weekend so I should be around after work all week.
Wife is on call this weekend so we have to stay close to home.
I might be able to lend a hand if you need it. Let me know.

Bill That would be great if you would like to come over and lend a hand. I will give you a call when I order the wire harness for the steering colum today and find out when it is suppose to be here. I might order it from NPD or Dennis carpenter just so it can be here next day.

The turn signal switch is a pita as you have to take the wires out of the plug and feed them through the column and there isnt much room.BTW you have to take half the column apart to acomplish this so you need a puller to pull the wheel.I broke my shift collar years ago and had to take the column apart to replace it then the harness got damaged on the reinstall process and I ended up bypassing the whole column wiring as a result.I have a new column now and just need to swap it out one of these days.

I order my new switch today from NPD and it will be at my door tomorrow. Bill (66stocker) is coming over to help out on Wednesday to help out with putting in my new harness. I will take some pic and post. Thanks again to every body helping out.
