I had a completely rebuilt with all new inners 79 D60 high pinion with new calipers and disc and I think mine cost close to $2000 and end up selling it for $1500. Hope all goes well with your swap. I think only think that takes time is getting the old pertches off and making sure you are exactly right with your coil mount, but I could be wrong. It has been a long time since I have been around the EB I am rusty Cry Tongue

Have you seen this one for the rear?

D60 help! - JunKeBluB2 - 02-12-2008

I did a little checking at a couple junk yards around here found a Dana front 8 lug with disc-brakes from a 1999 F-350 with a V-10 can't tell if it's a 50 or 60 they looked it up but didn't specify which one did say came with either 3.73's or 4.10's. I didn't get the code off the axle but, got this off the tag
numbers 430 F81AE3 & 6106593 (I think thats right) they couldn't find the rear that matched but have lot of 60 rears but can't guarantee the gears to match. Truck was burnt, ends need building ball joints & brakes, rotors & calipers looked good to me. $450 for front or put a set together for $650. Now the bad news they crushed a set of 60's from a '79 F-250 last week. About 20 miles from Gulches. Let me know if you might be interested and I'll get you a phone number.

I am so hating that junk yard right now Cry I would rather have the king-pin D60 from a 78/79 f250 if possible. For now, I will upgrade to a full spool to keep trying to kill the bronco

go a head and upgrade the rear chuck. you can worry about the front later. i can probably get you a dana 60 rear and a spare parts 60 rear for about $150.00 but the 60 rear only had 30 spline shafts.
i would look into a 10.25 or dana 70 or 14 bolt.

So the D-60 setup is definitely the preferred route for what setup/ application? I assume rocks in a high torque environment or general off-road with large tires and a mean drivetrain.

Are you snapping your 44 stuff? I have been out of the loop (as you all know). I am still making my list of things to do when I get back and the chasis is going to be first. Not going to spend 2-4K on a suspension until I know what I am going to connect it to.

If you change from D44/9" to 60s what else will need to be changed? Hell, if I go to D60 I might as well consider getting rid of the C4 tranny and D20 xfer for an upgrade.
