I figure the 2" body lift will provide the clearance I need.

how about loosening the motor mounts to allow the tranny to angle down? You should not have to do this but the other option would be to loosen the front 6 body mounts and use a jack to raise the body enough to get the angle you want for the install.

When you removed the case was it difficult to separate and remove? was there a loud pop when it finally came off as though body pressure were being relieve that was resting on top of the case?

i cant really tell from the pics but i wonder if there are rub or wear marks on the body and the top of the case would have possibly met? this whole deal with the body being in the way is just weird.

I find it easier to leave the extension housing bolted to the transmission. It makes lining up the splines easier, but removing/installing the top bolts can be a PIA. The 2" of body lift will make the whole job easier. I also cut the top of my tunnel out and made a removable cover. This allows easy access to all the top bolts and linkages, and then I can use my cherry picker through the passenger door to lift and hold the transmission and transfer case when installing and removing.

Yeah Chuzie, this is an option that we talked about today. We pulled it off attached to the transmission, which in hind sight is probably the way we should have tried for the reinstall. Since I need the 2" lift to close my hood :hysterical:, I figure I might as well move forward with that and then try it again. Project Snowball rolls on :toothy12:
