Fuel cost - SC74 - 03-14-2008 You have a good point Ronnie - it's not the individual stations running the price up, it's the fuel manufacturers that are making the profits and hurting everyone else. I also work for a large grading contractor and we buy bulk fuel, both on and off road diesel fuel. Our tanker load prices are no better than the prices we see on the signs at stations. Fuel cost - chuzie - 03-15-2008 I know you guys do make squat on the gas. Isn't it true you depend mainly on the store contents (bottles water, etc) to keep things going? Gas is just what gets the customer to your store. Funny enough, a military benefit many of you probably know about is tax free purchases on base at the commissary and BX/PX (condensed military versions of Kmart and Publix). The only thing that is not tax free on base is the fuel. We pay the same prices as the stations charge off base. If we could get tax free that would take a HUGE chunk out of the price. It has been a sore subject for as long as I can remember and the retailer refuses to discuss the subject. I would speculate they get the fuel tax free from the distributor and pocket the profits. Just my 2 cents of conspiracy theory. Fuel cost - JunKeBluB2 - 03-15-2008 chuzie Wrote:I know you guys don't (fixed your do to a don't) make squat on the gas. Fuel cost - chuzie - 03-16-2008 Yes, I meant don't. Typing too fast again I guess. One word can make a LOT of difference. Fuel cost - broncomatt - 03-16-2008 I have waited to bring this topic up as I thougt I was the only one who felt my hobbie's has been haulted by the cost of fuel. I am no economist, nor will I say I know much about goverment. But why hasnt the taxes on fuel been removed and a regulated price set. Milk has a set price because it is a necessity. Last I checked there was not many people who could live life with out having to drive to work. I have pulled my crew cab project out of my shop and set it aside in the yard. With a 390 it just doesnt make sence to put it together right now. I will still work on the new body for my EB, but even the full size bronco will simply get minimul repairs to keep it usable. Since my wifes car died we picked up a 91 ranger, its not even getting good enough gas milage(20mpg). We plan to start ridding my cb750 to work every day once the weather changes. As it stands now, I wont be making any trips that are more than 100mi away too wheel my eb. If gas gets much worse it will only see my yard. Just my 2c. Broncomatt Fuel cost - chuzie - 03-16-2008 I agree 100% I bet it has a lot to do with kickbacks and misappropriations of taxed funds. BTW- Anyone want to venture how much milk would cost without the price cap? Fuel cost - 66bronco - 04-06-2008 well not driving my diesel much bought this hot rod. it gets around 32 miles per gal. before anyone asks she is not for sale. i can't handle all the horse power this thing has. Fuel cost - blazinchuck - 04-06-2008 thats cool Bryan! I was thinking about a moped... Fuel cost - chuzie - 04-06-2008 Just steal one of the kids' bicycles. Fuel cost - Audra - 04-07-2008 I still drive a diesel guzzling four door bronco to work and pay 178 bucks a tank to fill her up. I drive 127 miles a day to work and back. Sorry I just can't imagine driving another vehicle. I'm trying to get used to the thought of it. I remember when filling up was less than 120 bucks. Just sad. I normally fill my tanks around the bottom 1/4. If I let it get all of the way empty I would pay over 200 dollars to fill her up. |
