OK, don't laugh at me bringing this up but... have you guys ever heard of using a product like Loctite 638 instead of tack welding the caps on the u-joints. We use this at work for certain applications and it works great. Low heat. Just enough for slight penetration so it won't spin. Not hot enough to damage anything inside.

That being said, I have to be able to remove joint without destroying it. Just grind the tack and done. I wonder how using loctite would go when it comes time to disassemble.

Mild heating with propane torch breaks it down. I think above 350 degrees. It's basically a similar formula as loctite thread locker. Just tweaked for strength and clearance. We also use other formulations like 603 and 680
