the price is also effected by supply & demand. right now the gov't is using a major percentage of the fuel produced here and abroad for the war effort.
what i don't understand is why iraq isn't comping them fuel from their own refineries at a super low price or free. gov't is paying prices not too far off of what we are. so we are all getting hosed. read an article recently about how the gov't has contracts with pre negotiated prices and it discussed how many millions of gallons of fuel they consume daily for everything they have working for this effort. staggering.

don't know about that regulatted price on milk. never heard of that matt. we're squaking at 3-4 bucks a gal for fuel, what about the 7 bucks a gallon for milk? haven't heard any complaints there. half gallon at 3.80.... ouch. good thing i'm not a large consumer..

everything is going up. it's a sign of the times. better get used to it.

That is why Southwest Airlines has been so profitable over the past few years over the other budget carriers. They were able to sort of "pre-purchase" a large stock of fuel and lock it in at a low price a few years back before it shot up past $50/barrel. So while the other carriers are paying out the behind for fuel, Southwest has been living it up. Wish I had the capital for that type of deal.
