My 76 LUBR Build in SC - Crawdad - 12-20-2012

Started working on my dads old Broncos this week. I bought lots of interior stuff from JBG to try and keep rain and fumes to a minimum. Was seriously thinking of installing a rubber floor mat but I was told to wait till summer so that all the wrinkles will come out. Putting in a cold rubber floor doesn't lay down very well according to one of our vendors out west. I got tired of not knowing how much gas I have in the tank so I bought a new one. I got BCs 24 gal efi carb tank which should hold more than the 13 I have now. I know I prolly could have changed the sending unit but it's an aftermarket and I'm not too sure it really is a 13 gal tank, looks bigger than 13. I decided to replace old wiring with JBGs rear wire system bc there is a lot of spliced wires back there, could be reason why blinkers don't blink properly too.

On to the hands on stuff. I started the removal of the old gas tank. I needed to remove the two body mounts which werent too bad minus the bad tub mounts which were trashed. Had to remove the welded on receiver hitch which was a bear. After fighting for about two hours the thing came off without a hitch! Ha I just made a funny there! May have tank out on Friday which should allow me to see any damage in the frame. I think my dad cut a notch out of the frame so that filler neck would fit better I guess. Hopefully I can find a welders fix bad spots, sand off rust and primer. Hope Chucks tank goes in smoothly.

Well today I removed the old tank only to find out it is the same size as the new BC 23 gallon tank! Arghhhh! Oh well, I'm sure I will be happy with the new tank since it will adjust a lil higher than the old fuel tank that wasnt designed for a 2"BL. Oh well, gonna clean up the area, prime and paint in the coming days. Only have 8 more days of deer season. Busy busy busy! Here are some pics.

man, that stinks...oh well you will love the bc tank

My 76 LUBR Build in SC - Crawdad - 12-23-2012

The way my thinking works is I was going to need an efi tank down the road anyways. So the purchase is not a bust. Which ever bronco I let go in the end is going to have a 23 gal carb fuel tank.

I bought the wiper motor mount cover from JBG but wont fit bc my windshield has the lowering bracket on it. I need to find the stock bracket in order for the cover and visors to work out.

Whoops! Well, at least it wasn't a super expensive item.

You should checkout what Chuck did to modify his cover to work with the drop bracket. It looks good IMO and I plan on doing the mod soon. Look in his 77 upgrades thread.

Cool man. I just looked it up. The pics are on page 8 post #154, maybe Chuck will chime in with some more details for ya.
