crimpers? - berg bronco - 12-16-2008 hey guys I just ordered a centech harness from toms. and I heard that you need weatherpak crimpers is this true or can I do it without them. thanks crimpers? - SC74 - 12-16-2008 I did not need any specialty tools or crimpers when installing mine - only a solder. You'll love the harness - it's one of the best upgrades I did on my wife's '74. I'm no electrical guru and was able to figure it out with a little time and instruction reading. Good Luck. crimpers? - blazinchuck - 12-16-2008 SC74 Wrote:I did not need any specialty tools or crimpers when installing mine - only a solder.2X I had no problems installing mine. I think there may be one or two things that come with a extra baggy that might be for other options(electrical) and might be a few extra wire terminals in case you need them. you should be fine couple options here for ya. 1.)I bought the wiper delay switch from a new F150...Centech did not offer the wiring help for that-I had to do that my self. I did not want to use the cheap'ish looking wiper switch(plus thier switch does not return to off) 2.)I bought the ignition harness adapter...didn't want to use that cheap'ish key switch from them(plus it didn't fit the original hole in my dash) I'm not saying those aren't good switches, I'm sure folks are using everything that came with the kit...but, I wanted to use my switches. Let us know if you need any help when the time comes.Chuck crimpers? - berg bronco - 12-16-2008 I got the ignition adapter. Im not much of a electrician so ill probably need some more advice in the near future. crimpers? - snipes243 - 12-17-2008 As its been said before you don't need any crimpers but if you make a mistake and put the wrong wire in the hole. Use a caprisun straw (kids drinks) to push it back out its the prefect size. Some more advice get some corrugated tubing and electrical harness tape regular electrical would last very long. Also Its not necessary but we added ground wires from the connections to the frame instead of the body. |
