Aight guys does anyone have a fav. oil, gear oil, or additive they swear by Ive never had a fav. or a certin one that I use but ive always heard good things about full synthetic Mobil one but ive heard that if you put synthetic in a motor with alot of miles that has never ran it, it will leak through the seals is this true? :rebel:

favorite fluid...... Bud Light Confusedupergrin:

favorite oils ... I've always like Valvoline. I do not run full synthetic for the reasons you mentioned, but I do like the Valvoline Dura Blend (synthetic blend). I'm also a big believer in Lucas treatments - use STP sometimes but Lucas is a much better product.

I've used Mobil 1 in an older model Thunderbird with no problems. It didn't leak a drop when my wife wrecked it.(totaled) I run Shell Rotella T in everything. I use Lucas Oil Treatment in my '89 B2 only because it has 209,000 + miles on it and ticks like a thrashing machine without the additive. They're all good, I think it's just a matter of preference. :xyxthumbs:

My favorite Miller Lite:beer:...

As for synthetic oils, I've ran Mobil 1 in several engines including my 393W stroker. I've never had any bad experiences with the brand. But synthetic oil just has an odor. It doesn't varnish the internals. Even used some in an old Merry tiller that was using oil pretty good, lasted a lot longer than the conventional oil. Though I have swapped brand in my Mustang. The Autozone here in town only keeps the Castrol Syntec in 5W-20. Ford suggests servicing the 3 valve 4.6L every 4,500 miles and I stretch it out to an even 5K with this oil.

If your motor doesn't leak with conventional oil it shouldn't leak with synthetic. I believe this to be a myth. And I have never tried any of the blends. But I don't see why they would cause a leak either. The viscosity is the rated the same no matter what the origin of the oil.

By brand I will say Lucas, I have seen that oil keep bearings spinning that were completly shot. If I had the money all of the fluids in my bronco, crewcab, rv would be from lucas.
It also depends on what your putting them into. Liz's stealth needs full synthetic, where my bronco didnt like it when I put it in the engine. The jap motors are made to use it, my eb motor is based on the Shelby 289 and for some reason it just didnt agree with full synthetic.
Overall I would stick with name brands that have proven them selves, Lucas, mobil 1, valvoline.
Just my 2c.
