Just wandering what tire pressure yall run when on the trails or what is a good starting point. If I remenber I think I was at 15 psi the last time I was out and it worked pretty well. chime in if you have bead locks also, how low do ya go :rebel:

depends on weight of rig and no,single,or dual beadlocks. and on a 16.5 wheel and no rings i'd be scared to run less than 20psi cause the wheel has no lip for the tire bead to stay seated.

It will also depend on the tire also. I ran 36x13.50/15 Iroks on 15x10 Daytona rims. I ran between 5-8 psi on the trail. They didn't look like I had aired them down at all. Only time you could tell was when it was strapped on the trailer or when you put the tire against a rock. Then it would wrap and grab. They were bias ply's. A radial will bulge at normal air pressure and look like it is low. Then when you air down they will actually pick up the center of your contact patch. Leaving you riding on a O contacting the ground.
I demonstated this to my buddies when we used to race Mustangs. A properly aired radial will leave a consistant black mark across the section. Too much air and it is dark in the middle light on the edges. The opposite for too low, dark on the edges and light in the middle where it is actually picking up. Not to mention all the racing stipes up and down the road in front of his house.

Ditto. I run 37x12.50-15 MTRs at about 8 psi on the trail and have them aired up hard for the street at 18 now. Lots of side wall for the pressure to act on. They don''t look soft off road til they wrap a rock. They do ride nice in the rocks at that pressure but on the road they wander like crazy and heat up. Air is cheap so you can be flexible.

Too many varables to say, on my eb I drop them down to 12-18 on the trail and 25-28 on the street. Elcheapo wagon wheel rims with 33" radials. When I had my 1ton with 40s I could drop them down to 5-8 psi. The type of tire realy dictates what psi you can run. Then add to that what kind of off roading, beadlocks, weight, and style of driving( I have seen tires spin on the rim because they were so low.

if its a heavier vehicle do you run more pressure than a lighter?
