Gear Ratio??? - BroncJr - 11-01-2007

Hi y'all, once again i need some help. I am trying to determine the best gear ration to use in my 7.5 rear end. it of course has the stock 3.75 in it now w/o a posi and i am getting terrible gas milage with the 33's that are on it now. does anybody have any legitament ideas as to what the best ring gear ratio to get. i use this as my daily driver but do still like to do some moderate wheeling (no sissy here). any and all help is like always.... highly apprieated.
thanks again ya'll, ya'll are an outstanding group of guys/girls.

I would think a set of 4.10/4.11's would do you great justice. I know my old 2000 dakota 4x4 got better mileage with the 31's vs. 33" it had 3.55's.

what motor ya got in the BII?

2.9l for now...4.0 tax season???

there is a think on b2.org about 33s and i think to get the best milage with 33s is 4.10 for a DD

if you want 4.10s find a b2 with an auto alot of them had 4.10s just check the door or axle tag and it will tell you

i put 33's on my diesel and lost around 60 miles per tank. its geared 3.7ish
i may put some 4.10 -4.11 in it.

I Have Pretty much the same setup. I'm running 35's with 4:10 gears and I don't have a single issue, at least with the rear end. The Front end's a whole different issue

I thank y'all for the help. I got a great deal on an explorer donor so i will be looking for something in the 4.10ish range.

if you are not correcting for your tires/axle combo from stock then your mileage is incorrect on your odometer anyhow....

Look on the front of the 9-bolt housing. Affixed to one of the studs is a small metal tag with a series of numbers. It should be there assuming someone did not fail to replace it for whatever reason during a servicing.
