I was having an issue when i turned on the headlights. so i planned the 3g upgrade. I had already picked up a HEI dizzy from e-bay for 79 bucks.
I got the alternator in after alot of fighting with the top bolt from the old alt. it seemed to have grown in there. a boatload of pb blaster and an impact finally got it out. had a similar issue with the 3g. but pb and a drill bit got all of the oxidation out. once installed i took it out for a spin and it started idling at about 1500?? so back home and let it cool , then i threw in the hei. Very easy install. red wire hot - green wire tach
fired it and timed it by ear. let it run for a bit and the idle dropped back down. huh. ever fix something and not know what you did?? but i'll take it.
there's a couple of pics of the speakers and one for my 10dollar soft top support. And yes i know it does not add any safety factor. but the roll bar in it has 90* welds and UGLY welds. the riser is just to keep the soft top off of my head.

that's it for now..

just found out i need to clearance the support under the hood. there is a little front end damage where the hood , grill, and drivers side fender meet. when i get the pieces replaced i hope that clears up the issue. I am going to notch the support and then look at moving it forward an inch or two.
but i can turn on my headlights now!!!

Talk to Robert(sc74) about your cage. I'll bet he can help you there. Nice progress.
