is $150 to evacuate/dispose freon reasonable? - chuzie - 08-10-2009 I got home from a trip the other day and my home A/C was dead. A good amount of freon leaked out through the king valve. The tech came today for the repair and wanted to charge an additional $150 for freon evacuation and disposal. Seems steep to me but I am not aware of what they are being charged either. I sent him away without doing the repair because I can't pay that kind of extra cash. Would have been nice to know before I waited all weekend for the A/C tech to show up. I wonder if there is a do it yourself discharge kit or something. -Mike is $150 to evacuate/dispose freon reasonable? - sparkchaser - 08-10-2009 Man that does seem steep. I'm not sure what it should cost but it doesn't sound in line.Is it a large service company? I luckily have a guy I went to school with that has helped me out in the past. A/C is one of the few areas that I actually pay people to do and I try to get someone on the side. is $150 to evacuate/dispose freon reasonable? - Timstrk - 08-10-2009 Tommy Freeman lives in Goose Creek and does AC work for a living. They just won't pay for evac and disposal. Makes me wonder why the A/C company did not shift the evac fee to something else. I spoke with Tommy Freeman and he is going to try and help me out with the situation tomorrow. He is a real stand up guy. |
