ok, well just to fill yall in. Yesterday my computer was taken over by a virus...(get this...) called...[SIZE="5"]Anitvirus Live:[/SIZE]:banghead::banghead:
google searched it and found that "Spybot 1.6" removed it.
what a pain in the butt. dont know how it got on my computer, but it did.
few tips to this...(what to look for)
1.navy and grey shield icon in lower right hand(near the current time)
2."windows say your computer is infected and would you like to start your antivirus program?"(this is another window that pops up)
3.you will start getting BIG RED WINDOWS popping up that says "You are infected now! Run a scan!"
4.will take you to the Antivirus Live page where you can purchase the protection to fix the problem.
5. will automatically load adultporn.com on your desktop...:banghead::rubeyes:
so far, I downloaded Spybot1.6(Spybot search & destroy), installed and ran it. In order to do this, I had to restart the computer in "safe mode with Networking". the virus wont let you run any program in normal mode.
as of right now, the shield icon is gone,the computer is working and seems faster. so I think the spybot worked...hope none of you get this. if so, you should be ok, dont panic, and just google search "Antivirus Live" to learn more. Hope this helps,Chuck

Glad you got rid of it! Webroot SpySweeper is another malware remover that you can try, if you have any suspicions that it's back...

I got the same thing a few weeks back, the gray and blue shield seemed legite but it wasn't long before things started popping. I was shutting down screens faster than I thought possible. I finally ran a full systems scan using AVG and isolated the virus. Got rid of it but had to reload some of my programs. I still have a few issues but they are slowly resolved as they appear. My wife nearly had a conniption fit when she saw the porno sights that thing popped up. I thought it was funny but when "mama" ain't laughing it ain't funny anymore!!! Any way, It is mostly gone but I still don't know where it came from, maybe never will. :xyxthumbs:

Never had a problem so long as they are run regularly. An auto-protect function is a must so long as you have the resources to keep it in the background without bogging down the computer.
Maybe you should just stick to barrel fires!
