Hard to say what it controls, most purge valves in the 70's were temp controled (in the thermistat housing). The closer you get to the end of the 70's there were many added emssion vavles. Check your rig for a vacume diagram or give exact year of the engine and it can be looked up. Mystery Part- WTH is this? - jdowns67 - 10-18-2010 It's a friend's '72 rig. Never saw anything like it on my '71. Mystery Part- WTH is this? - broncosbybart - 10-23-2010 my guess is that the engine probably came out of a later model donor vehicle. i have never seen either of those soleniods on an EB engine. It only had 28K miles on it when the guy got it.
