'99 Ford F-350 XLT 7.3L - SC74 - 01-24-2011

Just picked up my "new to me" '99 F350 7.3L. It's got 104K miles, ext. cab, short bed, 2wd, Banks exhaust brake, and a Transfer Flow 48 gallon tank. This truck is CLEAN and has obviously been very well kept - looks to have been garaged. It has had a fifth wheel in it before - 2 previous owners. Besides a few places in the pin striping it looks new. Too dark to take pics tonight but I will get them up soon.

Here are a few pics that the dealer had. Still no pics since I've had it due to the nasty weather.

Looks very good. You even have the towing mirrors. Mine is about identical to yours but 4wd, but had to put the mirrors on mine.

'99 Ford F-350 XLT 7.3L - SC74 - 01-26-2011

Yea, it has the towing mirrors but I can't get the darn things to go back in. I need to shoot it with some wd-40 to un-freeze them so they will slide in and I don't slap mirrors with somebody on these back farm roads I drive on a lot.

The pin-striping will be first to go. It's an ugly brown/burgundy and already peeled off in several places. Then tint the windows is second.

Today was the first day I drove it to work ... 50 mile round trip. It drives very well for a 350 but higher RPM on the interstate than I expected. Back roads are all around 1,500 rpm and interstate is 2,000+.

It shifts very smooth and the trans fluid was good color and no burn odor.

I also filled the 46 gallon tank up tonite at the truck stop so I can measure my mpg. The gauge showed about 1/8 tank, but it only took 32 gallons. The stock sending unit must be off in the aftermarket tank. So that means I still have 10+ gallons when the truck thinks it's empty... not a bad thing but I don't want to get too dependent on the last 10 gallons either.

nice looking truck. wish i could keep mine that clean!! mine generally runs around 2k or above on interstate. mine has 4.11 gears with 33 tires. also.

'99 Ford F-350 XLT 7.3L - jollygrngiant - 01-27-2011

Awesome rig robert. My bro-n-law has a 7.3 and I love it. I've driven it alot. That's definatly going to be my next hauler....when i save the money.
Any plans for a nice A/T tire in the future?

'99 Ford F-350 XLT 7.3L - broncosbybart - 01-27-2011

my truck runs about 2200 on the hwy at 65-70. i don't think it is that bad. never have checked mine for fuel mileage. usually just put about $50 in it at a time. filling the tank makes me want to cry.
