Advice on replacing an oil dipstick/ tube - Crawdad - 01-26-2011

When I installed my new headers I pretty much ruined the oil dipstick that was on the 351W. I tried to take it off but did not have the right tools at the time. Has anyone had any luck with the flexible Lokar type dipsticks? It would seem great to fit in b/ the header tubes. It would be nice just to get a $10 replacement and maybe it would fit (save me about $50). Thx!

Thx Chuck! Maybe JP will chime in when he has some free time. If not I'll PM him. It would be nice to find a stainless steal one. I'm searching websites right now.

I did not have a 351 ... but that should make no difference ... the one I used was the miloden ... but I did a custom job on the oil pan ... there is a nice write up on classic Bronco forum on that ... you would need to drop the oil pan at the very minimum ... maybe if you just buy the dipstick but if you have bent the tube then a "oem" replacement or the "screw" in type aftermarket ones should be fine.

Thx JP and Chuck! I'm gonna see if I can take the bent oil tube off and bend it back a little straiter. I just didn't know I had another oil dipstick on the other side of the motor????
