so i have this 79 bronco that i bought for parts and it ran too good to pull apart. so after tinkering with it for a little while i have found out that i have a short in the park lights. is there any way to narrow down to which one without tracing every wire..maybe front or rear, left to right? just a thought..thanks in advance

So both lights go out intermittently? Does the fuse blow? Those old systems are pretty simple in terms of complexity so shooting wires will not be a huge ordeal. I think the hardest part is going to be finding an intemitent short. My suggestion would be to use the continuity function on your meter with the sound turned on and just do a wiggle check all the way down the line until the beeping stops. If both lights are going out I think it is safe to say it is before the harness split up front to the individual lights. So really you just need to test between the switch and the split.

theres not a fuse for the park lights i found this because after having flickering headlights i changed the switch and turned them on bout melted the new switch. then made a fuseable link and then the park lights blew it. i have a schematic but its not real helpful in the wires going down frame and whatnot. it only shows colors from the switches and basics on where they go. but the park lights work..

there are 2 wires going from headlight switch to park lamps/tail lights after cutting one to see if it would narrow down where to look it didnt blow fuse. so i have to now figure out which light are designated by each wire...

I don't see anything wrong with that. All the connections on my rig are the same way!!! Way to go man. Persistence pays.
