Something really weird happened today, I was cruising down the beach and decided to turn around in a particularly soft area and got stuck. I soon discovered the the front wheels weren't even puling. I shifted to 4 low and nothing and back into 4 high and nothing. The rear end was buried by now so I was feeling embarrassed. Finally, after going back and forth between 4 high and 4 low several times, the front finally decided to pull and I popped right out. I wander what is going on?. After I got home, I shifted into 4 high in the wet driveway and did a 4 wheel burnout so I know the 4 wheel drive works. Anyone else had this happen? I think I am going to get all four wheels off the ground by putting the frame on jack stands and see if I can make it happen again.

Is your t-case a j-shift or t-shift pattern? I know that I've had them very tough to get into gear before and when you think it's engaged it's really not. Somtimes I have to roll forward or backwards just a hair to get the gears to line up and it will slip right in. Maybe you rocked it just enough to get the gears to line up.

this has happened many times and for different reasons...

be sure to check all linkage, making sure its not overly sloppy. once when(j shift) engages...its hard to get out. the shifter is very vague , i will be building a twin stick very soon to fix this.

JT, I've had this happen to me (J shift) so many times I don't even give it a 2nd thought anymore. I just do what SC74 recommends and it always works for me. However, like Chuck, I have a twin stick conversion on the wishlist, right after front disc brakes with hydroboost....:uhoh3:
