Promised Matt that I'd have the EB at the Nov run.. had to run out and pick up a new toy to help finish (tired of borrowing)...

Time to setup the EZ-up again, this time over the EB, not K5! Woot Woot! Gonna be nice! :bdent:

lmao!!... That didn't take long. I knew you f-ers would call me out on that! (Love ya for it, too!)... Gonna need to fill some argon, or buy a flux core spool tomorrow... Dayum is argon expensive! I might have to "settle" for flux core... just to get some "progress pics" for ya! :thefinger:

No No No. Get the argon. It shouldn't be expensive. You will have to buy the tank, if you don't have one already. That is expensive, but I get my argon tank exchanged for around $20. Flux core is crap. Very tough to work with in comparison to solid wire. Flux core works ok on really rusty stuff, but that is about it.

What are you welding? For sheet metal, get the .023 wire. I use 0.030 for structural stuff. Get a good auto darkening helmet and a nice set of gloves as well. They make the job a lot easier. I'd also recommend a welding jacket with leather arms. I use mine a lot, but then again, I don't do much welding in this heat....

Hobart (Miller) are great machines! I agree... get the gas. I think I run a argon mix, not 100% argon. I get the big spools of .030 wire from TSC. It would be nice to have a smaller wire on sheet metal but I'm too lazy to change it out. 2nd the gloves and auto helmet too.

Argon is for Al and stainless steel. Ar/CO2 is steel mix. 75%/25% and can't remember which way. The gas will make you much happier than using the flux core. Love my auto darkening helmet.

have fun,

Tim
