Thanks for doing the initial legwork for me Chuck. These are some good options to consider. This tire rack is an absolute necessity as I have no room for a 35" spare inside the truck and a stock carrier can not handle the extreme weight. Gotta do some more research first before a decision is made though but I like the direction we are headed now.

I think I still have the hinge and latch I had fabricated for my old bumpers. I'll see if I can round them up. I'll donate them to the project if I we can get them to Chuck.

How about using a cut up dana 44 spindle as the pivot, use the lockout to hold the tire carrier in place, swing it out, put the lockout in lock and it stays in place, brake a lockout and its right there on your bumper.

That's a pretty creative idea. Not real sure how I would use a lockout to secure the tire swing though since they only engage a spline rather than physically lock onto a component.

mike, ya have to sacrifice a stub shaft, spindle, and the bearing section of a hub.

ive seen it before and is pretty neat, looks a little large and stands out as a pivot point tho
