Southern Rods AC kit install..part 1-heater - blazinchuck - 03-03-2013

well iive waited long enough...ive had the kit since summer last year. a couple things are going to take place.

1) ididit tilt steering column
2) rostra cruise control
3) southern rods ac/heater assembly
4) BC broncos EFI throttle cable
5) removing the mustang heater crossover tube on the intake

the column should be here a couple days...so i started with that. removing it and of coarse, one of the upper 2 bolts snapped off(creating another problem!)drained the coolant, and removed the mojave heater. next was trying to remove the dash...but the roll cage wasnt having that.:banghead:

lifting the cage was even more of a pain in the a**...way to heavy. had to remove the center console,stereo,seats...then call a buddy of mine to drop by to help lift it up and move it back enough.:crying:

removed all the wiring going to the dash, and got it out. started checking clearance for the new evaporator/heater. i already measured way back when i ordered the kit. and i was pretty sure it would work...and so far looks like i was correct.had to relocate the EEC...got it mounted again in another spot. also got the broken bolt drilled out and retapped.

You should be fine. Just do what I do; jam all of it back in there and pray! Most of it will be self critiquing. Smile

Looks like you'll be busy for a while! Overdrive, efi, cruise, and a/c? Whoa.

[Image: unyzuteq.jpg][Image: a8ugy5ep.jpg]ran into a few issues... The stock defrost ducts look 2.5" and the ones on the unit are small...like 1.5". Need to figure out how to adapt them. Going out there to straighten up wiring, hopefully get dash mounted.

i was able to find some cheap pvc parts to make the defrost hoses work... turned out pretty good. didnt get to the heater hoses today. im hoping the steering column will show up tomorrow. i got the dash mounted enough to get all the wires back where they belong and was able to test 95% of it...even the new fan motor. works good.

southern rods didnt send enough vent hoses...enough for the defrost and 2 of the under dash vents...but not enough for 3 vents. guess i get some more locally.

It isn't even 9pm and ur done for the night? Unacceptable!

Anyway, I question the output of the defrost with such a reduction seeing as they are weak even in stock form. We shall see?

Good work though. U a crafty mofo!

more of a blanket statement there... you won't have much left to mod on the thing except the addition of a coat of paint.
