t-shift t-case won't go into 4-lo - scbronco - 03-31-2014

So i decided to test all the 4wd functions before the meet n' greet, and have found an issue. I've got the wild horses twin sticks, and i cant get the front output to go into 4-low. I checked the linkages, and can't find anythin in a bind there, and the stick doesnt budge at all, which has me thinking its something internal. not sure exactly how the shift rails work inside, but no matter how itried to engage it (nuetral, rolling, 1st gear, 2nd gear, etc...) it wont go. I have had it in 4-lo before (last years meet n' greet is the most recent time), but for some reason it's giving me a fit now.

Any advice?

Might just be stuck from sitting? Give it a swift kick Big Grin

On the T-shift case, you would need to be in 2 low on the rear drive before going to 4 low. I'm sure you already know that. Let us know what happens. If you need to, I'd pull the shifter off and try to force it with a pry bar or similar. My bet is that it is probably stuck.

tried the swift kick, no dice... LOL

I did get it fixed though. took out the front detent ball/spring, and dropped the bottom cover. Had my buddy adam work the shifters while I watched the insides. rear low wasn't engaging completely so it wouldn't let the front go in. gave it a little help from the inside with a bare hand, and she popped in and instantly began working with no assistance. went through all the motions a half dozen times, and she seems ok now. guess it just got in a bind and needed worked out. Confusedhrug:

replaced the rear output seal and put in fresh oil while I was there...
