rear main seal - snipes243 - 04-30-2014 I was figuring why i had everything out to swap transmissions I would replace the rear main seal since it a little leaky. Any advice on how to do it without removing the engine. rear main seal - Timstrk - 04-30-2014 With the trans out you're staring at the rear main. You still have to drop the oil pan. Any tips on installing the actual seal? rear main seal - Timstrk - 05-01-2014 Don't you have to drop the crank to do the main seal? Engine would have to be supported without the trans connected. rear main seal - chuzie - 05-03-2014 Depends on engine. Older use the two piece seals that require the crank be loosened, not dropped. Newer engines are one piece and require nothing more than removing the flexplate or flywheel. |
