68 Bronco - wepuckett - 09-28-2014 Ok so I pulled the triger on my first complete bronco, the others I have bought have been projects and I will get to them once this one is driving, wanted to enjoy driving one while I worked on the others. It is a little rough but after a little cleaning and a little metal work think it will be ok. So for pics I have been doing little things to it so far to get ready to get it on the road. When I went to pic it up one of the tires blew out before I got there when he tried to air it up so I brought a rolling tire and rim for it. It has been sitting for 15 plus years and even after putting the tire on it still wouldn't move brakes where locked up. So with a little help we drug it up the hill and got it on the trailer. So the first set of pics will be of it sitting in its spot on the mountain for the last so many years. 68 Bronco - wepuckett - 09-28-2014 Ok so here are the rest of the pics of it sitting in its old home on the mountain 68 Bronco - wepuckett - 09-28-2014 Ok so the next thing I did was while still on the trailer jack it up and put roller tires all the way around and pull all the brakes off so it would roll. Got some pics of the midget tires on the bronco once I got it on the ground. Looks kinda funny with those but didn't wanna try the 31's I had laying around till I got it off the trailer. Kinda hard to see but P205/70 R15's 68 Bronco - wepuckett - 09-28-2014 Once I had it on jackstands I could see the plate under the gas tank was welded to the rear bumper. Got lucky there and none of the bolts where rusted on and it came off pretty easy although I did cheat a little and just went straight to the impact to pull them off. After I got the bumper off I noticed the plate was rusty and the tank as you can see is a little rusty as well. But also the tank was only held in by the fill hose which just ripped in half or off to allow me to pull the tank out. 68 Bronco - wepuckett - 09-28-2014 Well the next thing was to clean out the inside, while I did that the wife wanted to wash the outside, seriously considering just clear coatting it and keeping the aged look. 68 Bronco - wepuckett - 09-28-2014 The next step is probably what everyone is waitting to see as that is where we pulled the seats out, seatbelts, carpet and ruber mat over the front floor boards. The trans tunnel is good so thankful there but the front floor pans need replaced, the seat platform think I can patch that. As for the rear bed pan other then fixing some old patches it is pretty good. Not sure how to fix the inner wheel well issues open to suggestions there. 68 Bronco - wepuckett - 09-28-2014 Ok here are a couple of pics after I got it on the ground and put 31's on it not the greatest tires but don't look too bad stance wise. Here are a few pics of the engine, the motor still turns and it has a little oil in it still. My next project is going to be new plugs wires, distributor cap and other things and try to get the engine going. 68 Bronco - wepuckett - 10-02-2014 Well picked up my seats and gas tank from bart yesterday even found a wirring diagram on classic last night that I will try and follow everything tonight or tomorrow to see if I can get the old girl to turn over so I can do a compression test and such. 68 Bronco - wepuckett - 10-02-2014 Well tracked most of the wirring down but have quite a few ends to fix and replace. Does anyone sell the 3 wire plugs? Also does anyone have the slide on ends for wires like slides on the solenoid or coil as I would like to get the wirring right so that people after me or even me is not guessing on the wirring in the future. 68 Bronco - chuzie - 10-03-2014 I think you can get pigtails from JBG or LMC. If not, I would try centech. You have your work cut out for you but sounds like you want to do it right. Sent from my GS3 on Cyanogenmod with T2. |
