It seems to me that the best way to get the exhaust out and not have the system hanging low is to go back to single exhaust on mine. What is on it came on it and it is very badly designed. When I put the 435 in will I have any clearance issues? Will the crossmember have to be modified? Should I just deal with what I have till after the tranny swap and cut it away if I need to.

I would likely wait until the tranny swap, if it is not going to be much longer. I cannot recall the exhaust on mine, but I believe it was single. I heavily considered going with fenderwell headers due to the minimal frame clearance around the 205.

if you're not into serious performance, i would stick with 2" 2 into 1, i still have a dual system with flow masters 40's...but it was made for my 5sp set up. you will still have plenty of room around the 435/d20...just dont go with a huge muffler. if you were closer, id give you a 40.

I think I will hold off on the exhaust until I get a chance to look at some of your Broncs. and see how it is routed. Maybe by then I will have the 435 and have it installed. Thanks for the input.

heres a few pics of a super single exhaust i built a while back on my other rig. the 2" body lift was a plus for tucking it up

A 2 into 1 is best for keeping it out of the way. There will be plenty of room on the right hand side of the trans to route it.
You won't need to modify the cross member to fit the 435 in place. Clay was using a gear banger shifter on it. I'd highly recommend not doing that and finding a standard type shifter to use on it.

Noted and I will start looking for a shifter. Also good to know the crossmember will not need to be modified. I just got off the phone with Clay and am going to try to pick the 435 up Saturday.
Chuck that is a nice and tight looking Exh system. I may have to piece one together as no one around here wants to build a cross over pipe. I do not think it will be to much trouble to do when I get around to it.
