I have been a loyal Ford owner for over 35 years, That may have changed yesterday. I have a 2014 F-150 SCREW, 3.5 Ecoboost. My second one and have loved them dearly but today on my way home from work a car pulls out in front of me, I hit the brakes, the brake alarm goes off and the pedal hits the floor, Not the first time I have had brake failure so instinct kicked in, e-brake and disaster avoided.
Stopped and checked the fluid, bone dry. Filled it up, pumped it a few times and all was good, for a few miles then poof, no brakes, fluid empty again, no signs of leaks. Nursed it home with the e brake and wouldn't you know, a recall notice for master cylinder failure. Called my local dealer to schedule it and was told the parts are not available, as they have not been "released" by Ford yet. No parts stores list them so now I have a $46,000 lawn ornament until Ford releases the parts. How the hell can a master cylinder not be available for a 2 year old vehicle? I checked and saw posts that are over 2 months old with people waiting on a master cylinder. Ford has dropped the ball big time.Cry
I am going to the dealership in the morning to see what resolution they have for me, either fix my truck, Ford makes my payment till it is fixed, Same model loaner while mine is down, or Give me the payoff as trade in. If this is not resolved in the morning off the another brand I will go.
2 freaking years old and can't get a Master Cylinder? Come on Ford, this is an EPIC fail.

After the trip to the dealer here is what I know.

OK so here is the lowdown on this recall.
1. I was required to get the vehicle to them, Did not want to use Ford's towing service, so I used a trailer from work.
The following was explained to me by the Service Manager
1. They have to pull the Master cylinder.
2. They then have to take pictures showing that the unit has failed leaking brake fluid into the brake booster.
3. They send the pictures to the recall board.
4. The recall board then determines that yes it has failed and authorizes the MC and Booster to be shipped to replace the failed unit. If they determine that the parts did not fail I have to wait for the parts to be released before they can be replaced. (Sounds like Obamacare to me)
5. Expedited shipping.
6. New parts installed and I get the truck back.

So basically unless there is a total failure of the brake system there is zero chance that the parts will be shipped to replace a known defective part. Now I am kind of wishing I would have swerved off the road and hit a pole, I could have hired Rob and we both would have been set. I would like to see the stats on the failures that have not ended as well as mine. (Thanks Dad for teaching me how to drive during a brake failure)

This whole experience has not been good, Ford does not trust the dealers to determine that a failure has occurred. So like I have said, if you own a 2013/2014 Ecoboost F150 that is part of the recall (Ford # 16s24) All the trucks are equipped with 3.5-liter GTDI engines and built in Michigan between August 1, 2013, through August 22, 2014, and in Kansas City from August 1, 2013, through August 31, 2014., When the brake warning light comes on, PARK IT right then, DO NOT WAIT, your brakes will 100%fail within 2 miles.

Yes I did, If it would have failed 2 weeks ago I was in the Smoky Mountains and that would not have been good. I wanted to let the members here know because most are in the mountains.

I wonder what would have happened if there had been an accident? This sounds worse than the floormats getting stuck on the Toyota gas pedals, er- the sticking throttles....

Really sucks that they don't have a fix for it. It can't be that hard. Hope they get you straightened out quickly!
