Need Input - trkbilder - 04-17-2008 cratchhe: My mechanic just called and said the "little" pecking noise in my engine was 2 collapsed lifters. He is saying over $800 to repair. Is that about right, I'm mechanically handicapped. In other words, I can be taken. How much would I need to put in a 4.0? Some of you guys have seen my XLT B2 and know that it is worth spending the money on but I'd still have a 2.9 with 200,000 miles on it. I'm trying to figure all this out but at present, I'M LOST FOR AN ANSWER!!! PLEASE HELP OUT A BRO WITH SOME SOUND INPUT!!!:whiteflag: Need Input - johnpaulgolf - 04-17-2008 I would think you could put a junkyard 2.9 with decent miles and warranty in there for that much. just my 2 pennies Need Input - trkbilder - 04-17-2008 johnpaulgolf Wrote:I would think you could put a junkyard 2.9 with decent miles and warranty in there for that much. just my 2 penniesI think you're right but I can't do it myself, so I'm still stuck.cratchhe: Need Input - johnpaulgolf - 04-17-2008 johnpaulgolf Wrote:I would think you could put a junkyard 2.9 with decent miles and warranty in there for that much. just my 2 pennies trkbilder Wrote:I think you're right but I can't do it myself, so I'm still stuck.cratchhe: Allright we will wait and see who can step up with some help or a motor or better Ideas. I can't afford to keep driving my powerstroke around town, it's eating me alive at 14 mpg. I guess I'm going to have to pay his price.:crying: Need Input - johnpaulgolf - 04-18-2008 Man...can you hold off a little longer? I wish I was closer cause then I could physically help. Lets see what others say first. That just seems really expensive. I am sure someone can help out. I am a 5.0 guy but would certainly give it a try if I was not in Oklahoma. How bad can it possibly be? Is a lifter replacement in those engines more difficult or something? |
