Hey everyone....Chuck asked me to post something on the camping arrangements for anyone interested....and here's the scoop!

It sounds like the majority of the people will being camping Saturday night into Sunday...there is Umstead State Park right behind the Parts Store...BUT...it has no electric / no water and only 28 sites first come, first serve....gates close at 8:00 pm - NO in / NO out after that......SO.....

The next option (which Matt & Liz and David & I like the best) is Falls Lake State Park which is 10 miles from the store but it has water / electric and (2) 170 camp grounds first come, first serve.....

David's family has land 1/2 mile from Falls Lake and we'll be coming in and dry camping there on Friday evening (including Matt & Liz and anyone else that would like to do the same).....

If you're coming in Saturday ,it would be wise to come to the campground first and find spots together on Saturday morning and then head over to the BASH after that since it's first come....they also close the gates at 8:00 pm but we figured we'd have 4 hours after the event to figure out if we wanted to go back and grill out or go out to eat......

SOOOOOOOO...after the lengthy message here's what I need to know:
  • Is there anyone that wants to dry camp with us on Friday night?
  • Do people want to grill out on Saturday evening at the campground or eat out? (so we know what food to bring with us)

Have a good weekend and tell me what you think.....THANKS!Confusedupergrin:

Rhonda

Falls Lake is a little further north but if it has elec. and water that would probably be more desirable. What time does everyone anticipate arriving?

Yall know I wouldent miss this:beer:
We (me, liz and my lab Stuart) will be meeting up with Ronda and David on friday night, flat towing my eb behind my rv.
Dont worry Johnpaul, I will bring some Torqs drivers so we can tear into your carb.
Be sure to bring some extra rags if we need them.
And Carl, got your message and will try to shout at you tommorow.
We all need to decide if we want to eat in or out, the gates close at 8pm and that means you park on the highway and walk in
If there are others who are not camping they would have to be out by 8pm or walk out. If we eat out we have to be done and heading back before 8pm.
Nothing is easy, but lets all chime in on what each wants to do.

We can go out to eat after the Bash a block away from the 4 Wheel Parts store at a real good pizza/ Italian restaurant. We can eat pizza pretty cheap and have you kids back to the camp ground by bed time.

Sorry about the gas prices guys- I know it hurts!

What is the name of the campsite within the park?

Raleigh Bash Camping! READ THIS FIRST! - redsblue73 - 04-20-2008

Hey everybody.....here's a little more info so that we can make a decision on the campground....I know it sucks to have to be in by 8:00 but they are the only 2 campgrounds in the area (I double checked with our US RV directory and that's all they have listed, too)....so....the decision is whether to dry camp on saturday night or not.....it figures that they change their hours to 9:00pm four days after that!

Falls Lake (aprox. 10 miles from the parts store) offers dry camping for $15/night or W/E for $20/night....Matt, Liz, David and I will be staying at David's cousins place friday night because we don't think we'll make it by 8:00pm friday night to the campground...Falls Lake is just 2 miles from there....

...we're not necessarily locked into Falls Lake ...but ...the one drawback we saw with Umstead is that they only offer 28 sites compared to 300 at Falls Lake - both first come, first serve......Umstead is $15/night to dry camp as well (no W/E)

What 'ya wanna do?Confusedcratchhe:

We'll go where the action is....
