JP's New Front Bumper!!!! - SC74 - 08-23-2008

After Keith and I working on it for 2 days it is finally taking shape and almost finished. It's a lot more than we had planned on, but you know how one thing leads to another. JP sent me pics of several bumpers he liked and it's a combo of them all. I hope you are happy with it JP - no corners were cut and I dare you to damage it :rebel:

Just got home so gotta shower .... once the race gets under way I'll get some pics downloaded.

I know.. I know... we need the "This thread is worthless without pics" smiley :popc1:

Here is part of it ...

The middle section took us 3/4 of the time to make. It all fits together like a puzzle and there was LOTS of angle cutting and grinding to get it to piece together just right. Of course there was some re-do's and and re-modifying after it was welded because we saw a better way afterwards.

Here are a few pics of the middle section when we are starting on the tubed outers.

Here are a few shots of the first tube welded on. JP wanted some corner protection so we wrapped it around the front corner. We're using 1.5" 120 wall tubing.

Here's a few shots of the 2nd tube being added with 2 spacers between.

Here is where we left off today.

We still need to weld in one more tube that will give it more vertical support. It's cut and here is a pic of Keith holding it in place.

If your ft bumper is welded on right now you have lots of work to get your framerails ready. It bolts to the stock holes in the frame and it must be able to accept the 4 in c-channel that slides into the frame almost 7 inches.

JP's New Front Bumper!!!! - SC74 - 08-24-2008

What shape are you frame horns in? As long as you can cut the bumper off that you have on there now it shouldn't be too hard to pry your frame horns out enough to accept the 4" C-channel that slides into them.

Two bolts in each frame horn - one in the top and one in the bottom. We're not going to drill the holes in the C-channel so you can decide exactly how far in/out you want it. All you'll have to do is slide the channels in and mark mark where you want your holes - drill them - and waaalaa!

Glad you like it!
