Beach Camping in NC

Hey fellas, I posted this over on FSB, but figured you guys would be a better source, so I apologize if any of you have seen this before. Does anyone know of any really good spots to do some beach camping along the NC coast or outerbanks? Some place that will still let me drive on the beach in the Bronco? I know Ocracoke, N. Myrtle, Hatteras and Emerald Isle were really good, but I'm not sure what their vehicle policies are anymore. I was also thinking about Carolina Backwoods, but that's a little further from the beach than I wanted. I also heard of a spot in the Carolina/Kure Beach area, but dunno the name of the place. Really, I'd like to be able to wake up on the beach every morning if still possible. So if you guys have any info, lemme know. If you guys have any specific camping areas you like best, please let me know. I think I have general areas fiogured out, but I'm kinda looking for specifics now. Thanks.

Carolina Beach has a place called the North End Freeman park, cost 20$ a day to get on or 60$ for a season pass. If you dont buy 1 soon the passes are going up to 100$ a year.

you can put a tent up, haul a camper on the back of the truck anything and sleep on the beach sleep in the sand if you want, sleep in the truck it doesn't matter. they have some rules but not many and aslong as you are keeping a low profile and not doing anything stupid the cops are cool and wont harass you.

you can throw up a tent anywhere after section 6, there are 25ish sections, and the beach is 1.5 miles long.

The only real rules they are sticklers for are... Clean up your trash, No donuts or stupid driving, and if you are gonna have a fire you have to have a burn barrel. (I have to run the beach rake and clean up after tards that leave a mess )

np, btw dont bother with Kure Beach you cant camp there and you have to leave by sundown, but they let you drive on the beach.

Alright...talked it over with my girlfriend and decided for our first primitive camping expidition together we didn't want to be too secluded (We were considering Corolla beach). So we are gonna do Freeman park. Do you have any suggestions on when to go and when not to go? I assume a holiday weekend will probably be uber crowded. Is the whole summer pretty much packed, or is there a time where it can still be nice and peaceful? Thanks again for any help.

hey buddy sorry for the slow reply. dont go on a holiday weekend for sure!!!! cause you wont be secluded at all no matter where you park lol.

a normal weekend is like the pictures I posted, ( hasn't gotten that busy yet this year) but any normal weekday on the summer really isnt that bad, hell on the weekend you can still post a tent up about anywhere. Alot of daytimers just stay, not nearly as many people staying the night.
