mini buildup

So i got an update on my progress managed solve my major carb problem the other day. The carb had been loading up real bad and if you didnt stay in the gas it would sputter and die. So after talking to people I pulled my air cleaner and look down the venturis and found that gas was just pumping out of the bowl down the tubes and spraying out of the jets. I know the needle and seat where fine nothing in them and brand, the float set way down low. Apparently when i bought this ultra badass mech. fuel pump the pressure it produces over powers the needle and seat. So i got a pressure regulator and it seems to work pretty good.

So now I find my other problem it over heats like a bitch. Cant run it low range at all in 5 min it dies. As of now I have stock radiator that has bark leak crap in it, and mechanical fan.

So right now the plan is to fab up a radiator shroud. I got a "new" stock radiator a while ago just never installed cause the leak disappeared and got lazy. Then Im looking at pusher fans for the front of the radiators. And then i have gathered a couple of parts for a remote oil cooler and an filter.

So what has worked for everyone one else?

as for the cooling...i think once you get a shroud, you'll be fine. might even looking into a high flow water pump. i have seem tho, that those can push water so good that it doesnt get cool down time in the rad. ive also ran "water wetter" or a cool water...its an additive that helps cool and drops temp up to 30*...it does work.

soooooooooooo....what the plan with that motor and what is it?

I have used everything under the sun for overheating issues. THe water wetter works, but not ideal if your in an area that can freeze. I'm using the edelbrock high flow pump and it does work good. THe fan shroud is the biggest help you can do. The fan type is also very importent, as little flex in the blades as possible. I also recomend an aluminum radiator, I have a Howe. If still persistant, try a lower temp t-stat. I run a 160 in mine, just to have some heat. Other wise I wouldnt even run one. The other thing I have seen is a bad coolent mixture. NIssans are prone to not gettting up too temp if the mixture is too much coolent. We mix ours at 40coolent/60 water. Just becarefull if you let it sit where it can freeze. Tell me what your running now and I may have more suggestions.
Love the new engine!

I picked up arrons old 393 stroker motor. Can't wait to hear it run. I made a fan shroud. And it came out badass. It did work well with the 289. I also swithed out my radiator for a good used radiator mine old one had a hole and when I was younger I was stupid put leak stop in it so it was plugged up. I got a couple of free bottles of water wetter from school so I'm gonna try that. Hope to finish by sat. So we will see

So As some of you know I got the motor put in for the trail work day. I managed to do it in basically 2 days which is pretty good for never doing it before. The Motor runs awsome, Arron you build a kick Ass motor. It did more than I want from it. Ran Daniel great. Doesnt seem to be over heating. just need to clean some wiring and throttle linkage up and good to go
