My Bronco $$ value
#1
I'm looking at collector insurance for the Bronco. Just found out it's available from the company I'm with. Few requirements: locked garage, Y, limited annual miles, Y, for pleasure only, Oh, Yes. Not used for racing or timed events. Correct. I need to establish a fair market value in the event of total loss. I'm thinking theft would be the biggy here. This coverage pays full agreed upon value for the vehicle at complete loss. Any time anyone asks if it's for sale I have a price. Not what they will agree to, though. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

302ci .030 over. Truck avenger on 4bbl manifold. Locked front/rear. 4.10s, 31 spline rears, stock fronts. 3.5" suspension/ 2" body lift. 37" MTRs (x5), C4/Dana 20. Original factory paint. Show me some love.
74 Bronco Ranger halfcab w/toys: lockers f&r, wristed arm, C4, D20, hyd assist steering, 37"MTRs, warm 302. Capability, that's what I'm talkin' bout.

I usualy look at simular vehicles on ebay, craigslist, ect. What would one like it cost me, ususaly around 10k. The restoration I did for a guy many years ago was insured for that amount. Today I would probably put mine for up to 15k. Just my 2c.

I am in the same boat right now. I am at risk for complete loss or theft since it is always running on the street and not a trailer. I have been looking at the same insurance but determining the value is tough. I would tend to agree that com[paring to Ebay or similar items is a good bet but i also know what I have in the rig and what it will sell for are on complete ends of the spectrum.

Let me know what you come up with. I may need to duplicate your methodology.

I'd be more worried about fire than theft. There aren't too many thieves that would go after an EB. They are hard to sell parts for and not common at all. I am not sure how much the premium changes with the insured amount, but just think about a reasonable replacement value. IMHO, 20k would be very adequate. Was looking last night at a decent truck on classic for 5900, with EFI, 35's, 5.5" lift, and more... Of course it didn't have original paint, but most cut and lifted truck don't anymore.

SWAG. Stuck a number in the "get a quote" form and it came out higher than what I pay now. Of course it is full replacement value and not depreciated value. What's a '74 worth.... about $600. I think my tires are worth more than that. Fire would take out most of it for sure. Old wiring and my gas leaks at nose up attitude have me wondering every time. I'll just stick with what I have and try to beat them with receipts.

Well, there is that option. I looked into the same thing a while back for a custom pontiac ventura I built for shows. Allstate assured me they would do a better job, with the appraisal I had done. Luck had it...I never had to file a claim. However, the teenager that bought my car was hit head on by a drunk driver. He came out ok, minus a bunch of cuts from glass, but the ventura was DONE. When I sold the car, I provided every receipt it took to build the car. They had the car was appraised one more time after the wreck. They gave him the car, and paid back about 6-7K. I spent an easy 10k in the car...I think that was more than far.
