Voltage Issue
#1
My stereo amplifier recently started cutting out during acceleration. After speaking to the technical support line I learned that the amplifier has a built in voltage safety mechanism; they suggested I check the voltage. I'm getting a constant 15 volts at the amplifier which is above it's safety threshold.

I put a new alternator in last year so does this point to a bad voltage regulator?

Thanks in advance for troubleshooting advice :xyxthumbs:

Could be a bad regulator. 14.5V is about the upper end of normal for charging.

I'm getting 16V at the battery with the engine cranked. IT drops to @ 14.5V with the headlights turned on. I assume this elevated charge level points to a defective alternator.
