ron, glad you asked. the first thing you need to know is that we all have had noob questions ourselves and we are always happy to answer any type of question .
a 20-30 ft. recovery strap is a good thing to carry.
some where to attach your strap to the vehicle. a hi-lift jack is a good thing to have. the longer ones are for taller vehicles. so either hi-lift size will work . of course in the future a good bumper and winch would come in handy. gloves, flashlight, matches or lighter , blanket and water are good things to carry. and walking around on rocks can be dangerous. i like wearing boots with good ankle support.
