Yea I'm well aware of how easy the swap is, which is why i'd prefer this over a 5.0 at the minute. Plus the 4.0 gets the same, if not better mileage than the 2.9, plus you've got the added power, so its a win win situation!
Im a member at both TRS and BII.org and ive read all about the swap. This thread is more about announcing my intentions than askin for help hahaha! Wiring doesnt phase me at all, i enjoy siftin through wires and the reward when ya finally turn the key and she fires right up!
Basically i just need to get a wiring diagram for both the trucks, match up the different wires and either splice them together or re-pin the plug! Pretty simple! The driveshaft length isn't a concern, i just wondered if I was gonna by some chance get lucky and be able to reuse the Explorer ones without machining! But nothing in life can ever be that easy so I'm not getting my hopes up!
The slightly wider axles would be a bonus, if nothing else just for stability. I thing theyre 2 inches wider so you gain an inch on each side. That and I'd have a nice beefy 8.8to put in!
The biggest problem right now is my dad. Im already not allowed my second Bronco II on our property so I'm really struggling to convince him an Explorer is a good idea!
Oh and i move back from Ireland a week from today! And then next friday i get to drive my parents from greensboro to atlanta in my Bronco, towing our motorbike trailor so my parents can get 2 of their cars and start bringing them back, and i can start bringing a few of the motorbikes back!
