im not sure on the adapter. i just know the weight of the rig will easily snap the eye out of that shock if it gets in a hard bind. just looking out for ya cause mine was a headache. i looked at other buggies to get my new mounting ideas. and i dont think the bolt hole can run from driv-pass side. im pretty sure the eye of the shock also has to be turned some to accomodate when the susp. rises/lowers. kind of at an angle. like this // on the driv side. like this \\ on the pass side.

Since the lower link is angled from the frame inward to the axle my mounts are somewhat like you recommend, but I don't know if enough. Where did you have your lower mounts - on the link or on the axle? IronBender made the arms specifically for coilovers, but then again I had to do some grinding to make them fit.
