Mike, I completely understand what you're going through. My mom got diagnosed with cancer shortly after retirement. I questioned the powers above about how something like this could happen to such a faithful person. I got angry. Then I came to my senses and realized my anger wasn't going to help my mom at all and was just going to take me down a path that wasn't good in any way.
The only thing you can do is be there and postively support your dad, as I know you will do. This will be the biggest challenge in his life and he will need all the love and caring he can get from the people closest to him. I send my prayers and thoughts his way, and I will call my mom so she can put his name on her church prayer network.
By the way, mom's been cancer-free for almost 8 years now. It can be beat.
