Bone the same goes for the rear axle. The 8.8 and 9" are both pretty much rated to a 35" tire. In my opinion the 9" really isn't that much stronger than the 8.8. Some will say different but if your going to up grade axles you might as well jump to a 60. Especially if your thinking up in the 37-38 range you will blow both the 8.8 and 9" away if you start putting gears and lockers. You could move up to a 60 FF, 10.25 FF rear axle and have some reliable strength. Then you could either sas a D44 with 8 lug outers, or swap TTB outers to 8 lug if you are really that interested in keeping it.
