Whats up!!

So I've been on here for a while now, not posted tons, but I hadn't done anything to my truck until recently!

Figured I'd post up some pictures of my truck so far, even though its not much! :bdent:

When I got it, it looked like this:


From here on, I want to apologize for the poor cell phone pics! My Bronco is DARK GREEN, but my camera insists on making it anything between dark blue and black. About 1 in every 100 photos comes out green! :hysterical:

Then I took it offroading and this happened! upergrin:

I made a veryy stupid mistake and hit that mudhole just a littttleee too fast without testing the depth first... Whoops! Yea thats me sitting on BOTH diffs... Let me comment now that this thing is BEAST! I can't believe I didn't break anything when I did this...

Ha... Yea it was bad! It took 9 people, 4 hours, 2 broken tow straps, a broken come-along, a new 3 ton snatch strap, a cherokee, and a little red yota' :crying: to get me unstuck!

So you'd think I'd learn my lesson right? DON'T go mudding alone with your dinky little street tires... Nope, not me, I'm a slow learner! upergrin:

So I hit that hole in 2wd, and still scared from the previous days escapades, I hit that hole too SLOW! Got myself a little stuck, so I engaged 4wd, and BAM, out goes one of my auto hubs... Now I'm stuck with 2wd again. I try rocking backwards & forwards, side to side, everything, and nothing does it. Needless to say, my dad was NOT pleased when he got a call right after he walked in the door from work, asking him to come tow me out! :toothy12:


I was stuck pretty good!

This time it took 4 good jerks from my dads Dodge :crying: to get me out. And the worst part was the Dodge was 2wd! :crying: I've not lived it down since!

Here's the aftermath of those two adventures, with all 4 tires finally planted firmly on solid ground!


So now I really needed to replace a few parts. I had obviously blown one of my auto hubs, so I scoured eBay and picked up a gently used set (3 months old) of Warn Manual locking hubs for 100 bucks. By now my 18 year old, 170,000 mile, stock CV driveshaft was going out, so I called up Tom Wood and ordered myself a driveshaft. Got the driveshaft a few days later and put it in that night. Made a HUGE difference, stopped all the clanking and rattling from my old one. I was very pleased, I'd recommend this guy to anyone!

My warn hubs went in a couple weeks after that. They're very easy to install, although getting the old spindle nuts off (specifically getting that stupid little wedge out) was a pain in the butt!!! It took me 4 hours to do both sides. 3 and a half hours to do the first side, before dad and I figured out that the easiest way to do it was to carefully cut a notch in the wedge with a dremel and then pry it out. The second side only took 30 minutes.

They worked great, and all the clicking and jerking buisness from the crappy auto hubs was long gone. At this point there really wasn't much visual change, so really no pictures to post.

The biggest visual change came today! My crappy street tires were wearing out, I'd already punctured them a few times, and they had virtually no traction off road. On wet pavement it was like driving on ice, I could nail the gas in second and just spin the tires up. Yea... Cheap, but I figured I'd wear them out before replacing them.

So today I stopped by the local tire place and bought a set of these:


And the result is....

A much better looking overall truck! Haha at least I've gotten rid of my street tires!

I'll get some better pictures tomorrow hopefully! They do make the truck look so much better in person. Its no longer a "grocery getter" upergrin:

I'm gonna go tomorrow and get my 5th matching alloy rim off my other Bronco II, and then take my 5th tire and get it mounted and balanced so I'll have a full sized spare. Should look sweet on the back of the truck.

Right now the only serious plans as of now are to find some good silver spray paint for plastic and take care of the crappy looking hub covers that are on the wheels right now. Just sand them and paint em silver so they look decent again. I've also got a new set of BII badges for the fenders that I bought and had shipped to my uncles house while I was still in Ireland, however it appears he may have lost them. They cost me all of 7 bucks on eBay, but they're kinda rare so now I've gotta go looking for another set! :banghead: I'm also gonna need a new clutch soon. I've got a CB radio, I just need to find an Antenna... I've also got two Rockford Fosgate 15" subs in a HUGE enclosure, but that still needs hooked up. Actually I need an amp. At 1200w each, its gonna take an expensive amp to run those suckers.

From there? Maybe a 4.0 swap and a custom luggage rack with some hella spots? Custom tube bumpers? I don't know, I'm still not settled into my new house yet! :bdent:
