I also need to invest in a larger floor jack. My Craftsman just about puked its guts the last time I rotated my tires. Even lifting one side at a time on the front, it didn't like all the weight. So needing a bigger floor jack has now become my excuse for putting off replacing the ball joints in the front end.
if you want to borrow it, i have a flange and plumbing pipe that I made for installing new vacuum seals on the hubs. done 2 or 3 front ends now. they aren't very much fun. i hope that the ball joints are not original at 250k... i think you have a 4x4, right?
