broncosbybart Wrote:set the engine to TDC on #1 and see if the dist. aligns with the post on the cap that goes to the #1 wire. that is a quick way to tell if it has skipped. the other thing you can do is loosen the dist and move it to advance or retard it to see if it will fire. it could be possible that your tank had crud in it that got sucked into the carb. i would check timing first before tearing it all apart.
x2 for what b3 said above....I'd definitely check using those two methods before tearing into that sucker....Personally I prefer to work smarter not harder, or as my wife says, "the lazy arse way" of doing things....Good luck on resolving the problem
