I shopped for 60's for a while. Same boat, couldn't find anything with in a couple hundred miles that wasn't $1500. And most of the time the $1500 axle were just pulled out from under a junker. You can buy a complete truck with the axles cheaper than you can buy just the axles. But most likely you will have to travel.
