it was actually a metal milk crate from who knows how many decades ago. Batteries were no good- going to scrap them.
I went and bought a new (correct) battery for it instead of a couple used no good car batteries. I'm sure my dad would not have approved of that or a new rebuild kit for the carb. He must have had it apart once as it had a bunch of handmade gaskets on it. I need to get a new starter belt still. The current one is holding on by a few threads. Or, maybe some belt dressing will fix it from slipping...
