Thanks for the encouraging comments. I did consider a C6 but of course I had the C4 & D20 and wanted to maintain similar driveshaft lengths. Knowing I was going to have to move the transmission slightly back. The C6 probably would have been an overall easier swap but for some reason I don't always take the easy road. cratchhe: I did have a special E40D torque converter built for it that is very similar to the ones used for the Powerstrokes. I do have photos... but I lost my photo posting site a few months ago. I will try to load them up on another site this weekend.
Not sure I will be able to get the adapter plate out of the machine shop today... but hopefully I will have it next week.
